Superbike legend Carl Fogarty can’t wait to be back in the paddock after announcing a shock return to the world of motorcycle racing.
The long-term Bikesure brand ambassador has joined forces with Superbike Advocates Racing to launch a new team that will begin competing in 2026.
The retired four-time world champion, better known as Foggy, has taken on the role of team principal for the new Ducati outfit as it prepares to enter the British Superbike Championship (BSB).
Foggy aims to ‘win races from the off’ in British competition
Fogarty and Ducati have already created one of the most iconic partnerships in motorsport history. His quartet of World Superbike titles came with the coveted brand, as did 55 of his 59 race wins.
The Blackburn-based hero is hoping for similar success now that he’s teamed up with Advocates owner Lecha Khouri, continuing his long association with the Italian giants.
“I am looking forward to being back racing,” Fogarty told the BSB website.
“I am older and wiser now than when I ran a team before and that was a development bike, but this time we will be on a proven bike that can win. We want to hit the ground running straight away and be in a position to win races from the off.
“I love the racing in BSB. Of the three championships I follow – MotoGP, World Superbikes and BSB, it is my favourite one. That’s because of how close the racing is, the nature of the circuits that they race on, the power of the bikes and the way that the electronics don’t interfere with the riders, they control it and I can relate to that from when I raced.
“I’m happy to be part of this and with my racing knowledge and experience, being involved with this race team is incredibly exciting.”
It’s not the first time the much-loved racer and 2014 winner of reality TV show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! has dipped his toe into the world of team ownership.
His Foggy Petronas Racing team competed in the World Superbike Championship for three seasons from 2003 but was largely uncompetitive.
